Our business started 15 years ago, but the family Norden is already dealing three generations in Antiques.
Often people have questions to me like 'How can I know it is authentic" or "What is a genuine patina". These questions are not easy to answer since not two pieces are the same. You need to have seen many pieces to be able to recognize if a piece is genuine and not something faked. But many of these question where answered on the discussion group.
My dealing is about finding African Antiques. I found out that the age of the pieces is very important in determining the value. Today people accord much importance to the provenance, but this should never be the first reason to buy a piece. I have seen many pieces with a good provenance, and made for the decoration market. So I always first look at the piece, before asking for the provenance.
Our Shop is located in the old town in Antwerp Belgium, and I get most of my pieces from collections in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, and the US.
