A Chokwe MaskA Chokwe with Lwena style elements (gentle lines, rounded, full forms)From a Belgian collection, this expressive Mwana Po mask early-mid-XXth, woof, fibers, beads represents a youg girl, and was danced during masquerades. Repesenting the ideal women. Other representations include the older, the mother or the chief. The hairstyle of this mask is like an arched diadem and ressemble the crowns worn by chiefs. This type of masks was worn during the "Akishi" masquerades o evoque cosmological precepts and social organisation.
