Dogon statue

I don't know the story of this Dogon statue, but while examining the nice patina I noted that this Dogon figure had some burning damage on one side. Maybe the owner waswith his statue around the fire, and he fell in sleep?

Representing a mythological ancestor, this dogon statue is real cubistic art.

At 36 cm my statue is not comparable to the one from the Quai Branly and probably is not XIth but I think this piece could also 

have inspired Picasso, the shape is very cubistic, it will be a nice addition to you collection. 

What piece can you compare it to? 
The oldest Dogon wood pieces are known as Tellem.

You don't have to pay the 8 millions euros that the Museum paid for the Djennenke to Mrs Leloup.

The sculptures of the Dogon are clearly influencing the world of spirits, they use very simplified forms without appearing external influences.

The Dogon pieces can have great age due to the very dry climate in Mali.
