This Kuyu head belonged to Museum of African Art in New York.
Old etiquette on the back : KOUYOU African
provenance: Carved Wood Head, with multiple neck rings, scarification and incised coiffure, black pigment details, holes at the back for the feathers used at the end of the OTTOTE initiation ceremony and insert with feathers in the holes at the back.
They carried the Kuyu head in top of long poles.
