Peter Westerdijk, african weapons expertby David Norden, june 23 2010 Peter is a close friend of mine, he comes visit my shop nearly every week for a quick chat, or more in depth conversations about life and African art. I remember him visiting my father shop when I was a kid more than 30 years ago... (doesn't make me younger). He was always traveling with his dad author of the sold out book IJzerwerk van Centraal-Afrika that contains classification of the main African weapons from Central Africa and who was also a well known collector of African Art weapons . Dr. Peter Westerdijk wrote several books, his first in 1988: The African throwing knife : A style analysis. He is teaching at the Utrecht University. He collect weapons and has more than 5,000 of them, but he also find African Art when traveling and sometimes I can get my hand on those.
