Harvey Menist. collected it end 60's begin 70's in an American collection.

There are some numbers and letters painted in black "HAM 9"and in white "0604"  below this statue

final period 600-300 BC . Plateau county of Central Mexico.

The head has been reglued, and the shoulder and nose have been repainted. On the back there is a small part missing where the flute was put into the mouth (see images below)

Tlatilco was a pre-Columbian settlement in the Valley of Mexico. The culture of Tlatilco was one of the first which was located in Anahuac, on the shores of Lake Texcoco. Her historical period lies within the Pre-Classic Period, between 1500 BC. and 300 BC .. The name comes from the Tlatilco Náhuatl and means "where things are hidden". This name was given by the first Nahua because when they settled in the Valley of Mexico, the culture of Tlatilco was already gone. Nowadays it is thought that the city was dominated or strongly influenced by the Olmecs, who once where the great culture of Mesoamerica.

Looking at the found remains we can conclude that the people of Tlatilco were skilled in pottery making (influenced by the Olmecs) and could work with ceramics. Known are the simple pictures of women, which probably were used for fertility rituals. In addition they made skull deformation and mutilation of teeth.

According to recent studies developed the inhabitants of Tlatilco never created clothes or any kind of written language or images. They  walked around naked with body paint, preferably in red. They were hunters and practiced a rudimentary form of agriculture until the arrival of the Olmec.
